 What is CTET?

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a nationwide test, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) each year for two times to determine the eligibility criteria of applicants and may be appointed as teachers of the classes 1-8.

Candidates have the option to select either Exam 1 and Paper 2 as per their preferences. Aspirants keen to be teacher for classes 1-5, may take the Paper 1exam and those who plan to instruct the students of class 6-8, need to appear for the Paper 2 exam.

CBSE CTET Eligibility 2021 Criteria

CTET Eligibility Criteria is specified by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). There are different CBSE CTET Exam Eligibility criteria to be met for paper 1 as well as 2. To be eligible to sit for the CTET 2021 examination the applicant must be the citizen of India. Here are the other levels of CTET eligibility:

CBSE CTET Age Limit

To apply for the exam There is no upper age limit for applicants of any age group. But, candidates must be over the age of 17 in order to pass the CTET 2021 exam.

CBSE CTET Education Criteria

The basic requirement for CTET Exam requires you having completed high school or graduated with at least 50% aggregate marks and a relevant teacher training program. Here are the detailed education requirements:

CTET Exam Eligibility for 2021 Paper 1:To apply for CTET Paper 1 exam, the candidate must pass senior secondary or equivalent with at minimum 50% marks, as well as must be completed or in the last year of the 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education or 4- year bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

CTET Eligibility for 2021 Paper 2: To take the CTET Paper 2 exam, the applicant must hold completed a degree of graduation in the relevant discipline , with at minimum 50% marks and should have completed or appeared in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

Note: A degree or diploma in teacher education must be recognized by NCTE.
